DivineCaroline, Life in your words.
Who's Caroline?
We knew early on that we wanted to use a woman's name. It so happens that one of our founders has a dear friend whose name is Caroline. She's a warm, smart, adventurous woman who you'd like instantly. "Caroline" rhymes with Divine - a word that describes every single woman we know who's working to compose a life. So we went with it. But the site isn't about any "one" woman. It's about every woman and the bonds that connect us even though we've never met.
And what's so Divine about her?
"DIVINE" ISN'T ABOUT BEING PERFECT.
We don't know any perfect women and if we did, we probably wouldn't want to hang around with them. At DivineCaroline, you'll be spending time with women who embrace the fact that life isn't always easy or beautiful or fair. Our dream is to give you a place to come together and express yourselves. What brings you joy. What breaks your heart. Makes you giggle. What pisses you off. Confuses you. Entertains you. What keeps you strong. And if all that sounds too heady, remember we're also discussing stuff like sketchy relatives and good kissers.
YOU'RE ENTIRELY WELCOME.
Thanks to DivineCaroline's advertisers, it's free to join, read, write, start Forums and pass things along to your friends. In turn, we do ask that you complete a short registration form. We'd also love for you to be on our email list so we can keep the conversation going, but that's entirely up to you.
WHAT ABOUT MEN?
Generally speaking, we love them. But we wanted to design a place where women rule and all the things that matter to them could be covered every which way. So, while we won't make a big fuss about them, men are welcome to visit and even contribute. In fact, some men probably won't be able to resist coming and seeing what we're up to.
ANY THOUGHTS?
This site is truly a reflection of its Members, so everyone here is eager for your feedback. Just contact us and let us know what you like or dislike. If there's a story you want us to pursue or a poll you want us to take, please let us know. And finally thank you for taking the time to read about us.
All the best,
The creators of DivineCaroline
In this exciting age of emerging technology, the Internet is fast becoming the place to be. As people are exploring this magnificent frontier, they are also staking out their own territories and, with so much to choose from, they are looking for unique destinations in cyber space to call their very own. This week a new Internet site was launched offering an experience that invites you to –
make yourself at home.
Introducing:
DivineCaroline!
What is the Inspiration for DivineCaroline?
DivineCaroline is a website that aims to be the number one resource for women online.
We seek to fill the void in the marketplace in which women don't have a home or a single destination that they can turn to. We talked to many women who shared with us that they have very passionate loyalties to their "off-line" communities like book clubs or "mommy" groups or non-profit volunteer work. But online -
they don't know where to turn to find like-minded women or to find out about various causes that they can pursue.
DivineCaroline not only seeks to connect people with causes and to other women going through similar experiences, but we seek to provide a platform in which women can express themselves online.
What is the overall experience that you want women to come away with after they visit DivineCaroline?
We want them to feel empowered and to feel as though their voice matters in the world. There are so many intimidating aspects to the publishing world and we really want to show women that they can promote their voices and share their experiences in a trusted environment. Our hope is that somehow, that will inspire them to share, communicate and connect with other people.
Describe the DivineCaroline woman.
We expect most members to be active women, primarily well-educated, ranging in age from between 25-54 (although we welcome and include women outside of that range). We provide opportunities for women to tell their stories, to get involved in their communities and to learn about new things.
What does the future hold for DivineCaroline?
It may take us a few years to get there but, DivineCaroline will continue to emerge as the single destination and resource for women online.
What is the best thing for you about working with DivineCaroline?
DivineCaroline is committed to supporting women in enhancing their lives - whether that's finding new friends, discovering resources for a loved one's illness or sharing a good idea with someone who has funding -
Ultimately...
We want to make sure that women know that DivineCaroline is their voice!
The sky is the limit as long as we have a passionate audience. DivineCaroline will become what our readers make it. The people who care about it the most -
it will become theirs.
REAL GIRLS MEDIA
Two things compelled us to create RGM: The state of women's online content. And the explosive change happening in the publishing world. Women of all ages are spending more and more time online. They're shopping, messaging, gaming, researching and yes, escaping. Yet their appetite for compelling, attractive places is going under served. Add to that the phenomenal attraction people have to user-generated content and you have a property screaming to be born.
Real Girls Media is providing a new way for women - young and older - to reach out, find out, express themselves, connect, share their experiences and ultimately give - and get - something of value.
RGM sites combine real voices with guided editorial and the dynamism of an online community. Through our proprietary technology, we enable users to easily submit - and automatically publish - their thoughts and stories. And we give all visitors a variety of ways to engage with the content and the community.
Our flagship site, DivineCaroline, launched on January 31, 2007. It's a real place for 25-54 year old women. Whether you've got a lot - or a little - to say about your kids, your career or your world, you can say it here. Your words will be published right alongside those of your sisters and those of professional writers.
Eventually our network will consist of multiple sites and resources serving different age groups.
