My Two Cents: Original Intent

Auguste Roc

"When I got here, people would do the monkey noises and chants and stuff like that, and I just kind of laughed it off."

I was recently reading an article on sports when I came across this quote from a professional soccer player describing a recent experience he had with some fans.

"When I got here, people would do the monkey noises and chants and stuff like that, and I just kind of laughed it off."

Many times in sports, and in every area of life for that matter, we read or hear about the crazy things that people do "off the court" and "outside of the playing field". Whether they are fans or groups or "interests" that may be attempting to influence a player or the game, they impose their opinions, agendas, their 'baggage' on the players and that ultimately impacts the game itself.

Sports represent something special! It is where a player develops and learns to make awesome use of all of the natural qualities that we all innately have. Participating in sports is a privilege that allows a player to PLAY.

From the intelligence and focus required to gain mastery to the love and the passion required to be great, players receive and embrace the game and its goals - PURELY and without agenda or self interest.

The discipline and commitment to show up prepared and in shape, the spirit and emotion that is needed to keep standing and moving forward against the odds is what participating is all about.

What sports represents is pure --

pure camaraderie, pure dedication, pure intention, pure connection with mind, body and spirit

Pure love of the game...

That's my two cents (for whatever it's worth),
